Poll: is the rise of veganism a fad or is veganism here to stay?

This poll is almost 6 years old

Veganism has never had a profile in the UK like it does at present.

More and more people are pledging to move to purely plant-based diets for a range of reasons – not least of these being health and concern about the environment.

You know something is afoot when major retailers get in on the act – and, right on cue, Greggs has announced it is launching its first ever vegan sausage roll.

This reflects a trend which has seen an estimated 3.5 million people in the UK – that’s seven per cent – identify as vegan last year.

That is a substantial increase since polling in 2016, which revealed there were roughly 540,000 vegans over the age of 15 living in Britain.

Impressive numbers – but can it be maintained?

This is why we’re asking – is the rise in veganism a fad or is veganism here to stay?

Vote now and get the debate going by leaving a comment below.

For the sake of our health, the animals and the world, veganism is here to stay! I have been vegan for nearly 2 years, my health has never been better, physically and mentally and I eat better food than I did before. The best decision I ever made.
