This course looks in detail at the benefits delivered by Social Security Scotland, including the forthcoming Scottish child payment. Aimed at advisers with a working knowledge of the benefits system, it explains how the entitlement rules and decision-making processes are different in the new Scottish system.
The course covers:
• Who is entitled to Scottish benefits
• Claiming Scottish benefits
• Redeterminations and appeals
• Overpayments
• Future plans
This ‘one-day equivalent’ standard level course is aimed at advisers with a working knowledge of the benefits system. Less experienced advisers and support workers should consider 'Scottish social security – an introduction' on 10th November 2020 instead.
The course will be delivered online over two mornings as follows;
11 November 2020
10.00 - 11.15 training session delivered via Zoom
11.15 - 11.45 break
11.45 - 1.00 training session delivered via Zoom
12 November 2020
Repeat of day 1 schedule
This is a practical course, delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion. Participants will need a Wi-Fi connection and a suitable device to access the internet. It is not recommended to join via a mobile phone. Participants will receive an email link, a few days before the start of the course, to allow access to the event.
