Payments for children in Scotland
CPAG in Scotland
This event is in the past
A range of new support has been introduced for children in Scotland alongside the UK system over the past two years. The new Scottish child payment will be available to an estimated 194,000 children in Scotland, but a concerted effort will be needed to maximise take-up. Best Start can make a big difference in the early years, and in most cases also depends on securing entitlement to UK benefits in order to qualify. Help with childcare costs may be available for working parents through the UK system, while the two child limit and benefit cap can reduce the overall support available to larger families. This course provides an overview of the support available from pregnancy to school age.
The course covers:
• Scottish child payment
• Best Start
• Help with childcare costs
• Two child limit and the benefit cap
This introductory level course is aimed at advisers and other workers who have little or no knowledge of benefits. More experienced advisers with a working of knowledge of the benefits system should consider 'Scottish social security – an update',
This course will be delivered online as follows;
10.00 - 11.15 training session delivered via Zoom
11.15 - 11.45 break
11.45 - 1.00 training session delivered via Zoom
This is a practical course, delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and group discussion
