The rules affecting benefit entitlements for EEA nationals became more complex from the start of 2021 and further changes take effect from the end of June 2021. This standard level course sets out who is affected by the different changes and how to navigate the current rules. It offers a step by step approach to enable advisers to ask the key questions and gather the information most useful when assisting EEA nationals and their family members to obtain their benefit entitlements.

The course covers:

• The requirements that cause the greatest difficulties for EEA nationals

• The main groups that can satisfy the right to reside test

• How benefit entitlements are affected by getting leave under the EU Settlement Scheme

• The benefit entitlements of EEA nationals who came to the UK in 2021.

This ‘one-day equivalent’ standard level course is aimed at those who advise European nationals on their benefit entitlements. If you also advise non-European nationals you should also book on the course Benefits for non-EEA nationals on 16-17 November 2021.
