Arts & Business Scotland

This event is in the past

This essential course for the new board member/trustee is taking place online, with each course run over two sessions.

Tuesday 31 January, 16:00 - 19:00

Wednesday 1 February, 16:00 -19:00

Do you have new trustees who have joined you in recent months, or perhaps you have taken on a trustee role for the first time yourself? Covering everything you need to get you launched on your board career – and still useful if you would like a refresher – over the two sessions the course will include:

Duties of charitable trustees/board members

The different roles and responsibilities of board members and staff

Meeting management and decision making

Advocacy and fundraising

Your role in strategic planning

Understanding the finances

Each session will be delivered with a blend of slide presentation, practical exercises done in smaller groups, and whole group feedback and discussion.

A reading list (all material available online) will be provided in advance of each session to provide participants with background information to support the relevant topic. Copies of any exercises will also be sent in advance so that participants can read them in advance and have them available printed or on-screen.

There will be 12 places on this course.
