This event is in the past
Museums & Galleries Exhibitions Tax Relief (MGETR) provides a tax break or a cash repayment for charities and their subsidiaries that are engaged in creating new touring and non-touring exhibitions. The relief is available to charities which maintain a museum, gallery or library, this could include arts centres with a gallery or exhibition space or historic houses with collections. The relief is designed to recognise the unique cultural value that museums and galleries bring to the UK and encourage greater and more diverse exhibitions. The exhibitions must be a collection of objects that are of artistic, historic, scientific or culture interest, but the objects must not be for sale or the display part of a competition. Claims are made as part of a charity tax return and should be submitted to HMRC within 24 months of the company’s year-end.
