DigiShift 66: Exploring New AI Tools

SCVO

This event is in the past

Overview

Over the last 6 months there has been a breakthrough in powerful new AI technologies, from Stable Diffusion to ChatGPT. These new tools will undoubtedly impact campaigning in all sorts of ways, from automatically drafting text, creating and editing images and video, analysing data and more. How can we use these tools in campaigning? How could they improve the way we work? In this workshop, you'll get hands-on experience with the latest AI technologies and explore how you might use them in your campaign work and other areas of organisational improvement.

These tools are so new that nobody is an expert, and you don’t need to be able to code to access them - all are welcome.

The workshop will be facilitated by Hannah O’Rourke of Campaign Lab, a community of politically-minded progressive data scientists, researchers and activists who are working together to build new election tools and change the way we analyse and understand campaigning. We'll also be joined by Lauren Crichton from Sana Labs, and Dr Irina Mirkina from UNICEF.

Dr Mirkina is focused on responsible AI – what it is and why we need it. She will bring UNICEF’s child-centered perspective: if we develop technologies that work for children, they ought to work for adults as well, but the opposite is certainly not always true.

Lauren brings her expertise on the power of AI for workplace learning. Lauren is also sole creator and editor of Pass It On, a free bi-weekly newsletter designed to bring the tech and non-profit sectors closer together through knowledge sharing.
