Who's on the move in the third sector?
Craig Nisbet and Francesca Clair
The Scottish Wildlife Trust has appointed Craig Nisbet and Francesca Clair as seasonal rangers on Handa Island Wildlife Reserve, off the west coast of Scotland. The island is internationally important for seabirds including guillemots. Craig and Francesca will live and work on the island from March to September 2018. They will be joined by up to six long-term and 50 weekly volunteers over the season. Craig has spent the last 10 years with Scottish Natural Heritage including four continuous seasons as reserve manager of Noss National Nature Reserve in Shetland. He has also been involved in a number of expeditions, most recently in Arctic Norway identifying and filming orcas and humpback whales. Francesca has worked for several environmental organisations, including the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, focusing on education, community development and practical conservation, both in the UK and abroad.
Erica Stewart-Jones
The Richmond Fellowship Scotland (TRFS) has appointed Erica Stewart-Jones as its new head of learning and development. Erica has come from NHS Health Scotland where she worked for 10 years in a variety of roles, including head of training for Choose Life and the Mental Health Improvement Programme. She led the programme which supported the public sector to train 15 000 front line staff in suicide prevention skills for the Heat 5 Suicide Prevention target. At TRFS Erica will be focused on making it as easy as possible to train our staff to support people to the highest standards. She will make sure that TRFS, the largest social care provider in Scotland, continues to lead the field in training in social care.
Amanda Khozi Mukwashi
Christian Aid has appointed Amanda Khozi Mukwashi as chief executive. She has more than 20 years’ experience, extensive knowledge and expertise in working to alleviate poverty, injustice and inequality, with a special focus on women’s leadership, civic engagement and volunteering. Her most recent appointment was as the chief of volunteer knowledge and innovation for the United Nations Volunteer Programme, based in Germany, a post she has held since December 2012. Prior to this she was the director of policy for VSO International
Heather Zajac
Scottish Churches Housing Action has welcomed Heather Zajac as development manager. She has experience in volunteer co-ordination with Fresh Start in Edinburgh, and more recently as Scottish Social Networks Co-ordinator with the Rock Trust. Chief executive Alastair Cameron said: "We're delighted to bring Heather into the team. She'll be making a new start in stimulating action to prevent homelessness and help people experiencing homelessness." Heather said: "I'm very much looking forward to the new challenges ahead. I'll be contacting local projects and church groups, helping to make the most of the churches' energy for tackling homelessness in Scotland."
