Charity turns some of the country's most famous buildings red

Landmarks across Scotland turned red in support of this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Among the buildings taking part were Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre, Arbroath Signal Tower Museum, Ayr Racecourse, Dundee’s Caird Hall, Edinburgh Airport Tower, Eilean Donan Castle, the Falkirk Wheel, Glasgow’s SSE Hydro and Inverness Castle & Ness Bridge.

In keeping with the poppy theme, sculptor Andy Scott’s Heavy Horse at Baillieston and Equus Clutha in Greenock both wore bespoke poppies.

Poppyscotland, the charity that organises the annual appeal, hopes the activity will help increase awareness of the cause and ultimately raise more money to help provide life-changing support to the armed forces community in Scotland, in areas of tailored support & funding, employment and advice services.

It is yet to reveal how much this year’s appeal raised.
