Aberdeen Foyer has announced that Stuart White will head up its trustees.
A charity offering support with independent living in north east Scotland has announced its newest chair of its board.
Aberdeen Foyer, who support people in the North East of Scotland towards independent living, learning and work, have revealed that Stuart White has been appointed to head up the trustees board.
Mr White, a chartered accountant with extensive experience as a business leader in both the energy and financial sectors, holds the position of operations director at fire safety solutions specialist Blaze - a Balmoral Group company.
The new chair first joined the charity’s board in 2019, initially in the role of treasurer and latterly as vice chair, supporting the charity as it navigated through the global pandemic.
He has recently taken up the reins as non-exec chair.
Mr White said: “I’m honoured to have been entrusted with the role of chair at Aberdeen Foyer.
“Working with the charity’s committed team of staff, trustees and volunteers is a great privilege and every day I continue to be amazed by the powerful and valuable support the charity provides to individuals and families within our community.
“A lot has changed in the past two years and, more so than ever, people in the Northeast need the care, kindness and encouragement that The Foyer provides.
“I am hugely motivated to build on what we have collectively achieved as the charity continues to maximise its impact and widen its scope in support of vulnerable adults and young people in Aberdeen city and shire.”
Aberdeen Foyer supports over 1,600 local people a year to discover their potential, overcome life challenges such as poverty, employability, and homelessness, and helps them shape their own positive future.
Stuart joins as chair during an exciting time for the charity as it seeks to maximise access to its vital services.
Leona McDermid, chief executive of Aberdeen Foyer said: “Stuart brings to The Foyer a wealth of business acumen and practical experience that has already benefited the leadership team in many ways.
“As we embark on the refresh of The Foyer’s strategy and governance, the advice and guidance from Stuart and the other board members will play an integral part in how we shape our future.
“I’m delighted to welcome Stuart as chair of Aberdeen Foyer and look forward to working with him in his new role at this exciting time in The Foyer’s journey.”
