Advertising campaign hopes to boost fundraising for leading care charity

Ads showcase real case studies

One of Scotland’s leading social care charities is launching a Scotland-wide television advertising campaign to boost fundraising.

Quarriers advert, which airs today (27 September), showcases three real-life stories of people supported by the charity including a touching case study of Harris.

Harris worries about his little brother Kyle’s safety and wellbeing as Kyle has autism. Harris is a young carer taking on adult responsibilities without realising.

Even though Mum is there for both boys, Harris can’t stop worrying. His support worker said: “When I was talking to Harris, it was as if he just wanted to break down. You could see it on his face. He needed to cry and get it all out of his system.

Quarriers is helping Harris to know that he can think about himself. And that it’s not all on his shoulders. Working to help him develop his confidence and wellbeing. Next, Quarriers will take Harris on a residential trip to meet other young carers, and to have some fun!”

The advert, though featuring actors to protect the privacy of those involved, tells real and inspiring stories of people whose lives have been transformed by the charity's work. It highlights how small contributions can make a meaningful difference to those in need of support.

Every penny raised from this campaign will go to Quarriers essential services, including adult and young people’s residential care for people with complex needs, children's school services, school mental health and wellbeing programs, respite care for caregivers and much more. The charity is committed to enhancing the quality of care by investing in crucial resources that improve the everyday lives of the people they support.

Dr Ron Culley, Quarriers CEO, said: “We’re incredibly excited to launch this campaign, and we’re hopeful that it will raise the vital funds we need to improve the wellbeing of the people we support. We want to ensure that everyone who comes to us, whether they are a young person in need, an adult with a learning disability, a family member needing respite, or someone experiencing mental health issues, gets the support they deserve. Every donation will go towards creating a better, brighter future for the people we help.”

The advert will air first on STV at 11.40 on Friday, 27 September 2024, and will run for three weeks, inviting the public to join Quarriers in making a difference by contributing what they can. With the tagline “Help Someone Smile Again,” the charity hopes to inspire viewers to see that even the smallest donation can make a huge impact on someone’s life.
