Triodos scoops top award ahead of Barclays

Third sector specialist bank Triodos has beaten the high street banking giants to be named Bank of the Year at the Better Society Awards.

The awards, set up last year, recognise corporates whose efforts extend beyond commercial success and make valuable contributions to society.

Triodos was named bank of the year, ahead of Barclays Bank and C. Hoare & Co, for its work with its many charity, non-profit, social housing and environmental clients.

The bank only finances loan customers creating social, environmental or cultural added value - ranging from large ethical loan customers to smaller, innovative organisations meeting local needs.

“The award is a great result for everyone here at Triodos,” said Rebecca Pritchard, head of business banking at the bank.

“At Triodos, we have worked hard to support charities and not-for-profits using our expertise, utilising partnership working and finding innovative solutions so this award is a welcome recognition of a more sustainable approach to finance.”

TFN recently featured Triodos in its charity bank account table which compares the benefits to charities of a number of banks available.
