The new tips have been created to support CyberScotland Week

A new resource has been produced to help keep those with sight impairments safe online.

New top tips for online safety have been created to support CyberScotland Week, which takes place this week.

And Get Safe Online has been published in Braille to ensure those with sight impairments can access the key information.

The guide has been produced in Braille through Sight Scotland working with GetSafeOnline and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

Kevin Burns, head of Sight Scotland, said: “I was introduced to Sarah Sawrey-Cookson at GetSafeOnline by Alison Stone at SCVO through the work they were doing for Cyber Scotland Week. GetSafeOnline produce factual information on online safety through a great website for personal and business scenarios.

“To support CSW, Sarah has produced a leaflet on the top tips for online safety and through Alison, found out that we have the facilities to produce Braille documents. We all decided it would be a fantastic idea to produce the leaflet in Braille to support the vision impairment community and promote that online safety is for everyone.”

The tips include choosing passwords safely, keeping operating systems updated and being aware of online fraud.
