Bullying is still a common occurrence in the workplace for many LGBT Scots.

Research by Stonewall Scotland has shown that one in six people have experienced negative comments or behaviour at work after coming out.

Thecharity’s survey of 800 LGBT workers also found that a similar amount of employees have suffered discrimination, and two in five trans employees have experienced discrimination.

More than a third of workers (36%) have hidden their identity because of fear of being targeted.

Stonewall Scotland director Colin Macfarlane said that employers have shown commitment to help LGBT staff but there is still work to be done.

He said: "The fact that two in five trans staff have faced negative comments or conduct from customers or clients shows just how much still needs to change.

"Organisations who can get it right reap the benefits of happy staff who will perform better.

"It's been proven that diversity among staff leads to a more productive, positive and creative workplace environment.”
