Christopher Brookmyre is amongst the authors taking part in the Get in Character campaign
Crime fiction fans have the chance to feature in a top author’s new book.
Christopher Brookmyre is giving members of the public a unique opportunity to star in his next novel to help raise funds for a cancer charity.
An online auction is being held in aid of CLIC Sargent, with the highest bidder featuring as a character in the Black Widow writer’s work.
More than 50 authors are taking part in the Get in Character campaign, which has raised almost £35,000 for the charity since launching in 2014.
Brookmyre said: "I’m thrilled to be involved for the second year running for such a worthy cause as CLIC Sargent. Everybody wins in this event. The auction winner gets their name in a book, and frequently that name has a better resonance with the character than the one I would have come up with."
Clare Cox, online retail manager at CLIC Sargent, said: "If you are a book worm or know someone who is, then don’t miss this unique opportunity to have your name immortalised in your favourite author’s book.
“We are hugely grateful for the support of these authors, who are giving their fans a fantastic opportunity to become part of one of their stories while also raising vital funds to help CLIC Sargent provide practical, emotional, financial and clinical support to children and young people with cancer, and their families."
The online auction is open until Sunday (4 March) with all proceeds raised going to the charity.
