The 2018 Charity Digital Skills Report aims to assess how the sector is using technology
Charities are being asked to share how they use digital to boost their work.
The 2018 Charity Digital Skills Report has been launched to assess digital progress within the sector and to give an overview of how organisations are using technology.
Just under 500 charity professionals were surveyed for last year’s report. It showed that half of the charities surveyed didn't have a digital strategy and while most are working to improve their wok processes, just 27% have aligned their digital and organisational strategies.
The report is prepared by Skills Platform and Zoe Amar Communications. The consultation is open until midnight on 16 February, with the results being revealed in March.
Dave Evans, Skills Platform product manager, said he hopes that the report will show that charities have made progress with digital strategies.
"The 2017 Digital Skills Report showed that the charity sector sees the benefits of digital,” he said.
“The vast majority of charities think that growing digital skills will help improve fundraising and to deliver their strategies more effectively. This is encouraging, yet digital is often pushed down the priority list, with half of all charities not developing a digital strategy.
“We know that the charity sector is doing amazing work and in some areas is leading other sectors, so we hope the 2018 survey will show the progress being made in the sector and help add to the momentum we've seen build over the last year.”
Sally Dyson, head of digital participation at SCVO, said: "We'd really encourage everyone to complete the survey as the results help us to tailor our digital evolution programme to provide the right support for organisations across Scotland to transform the way they operate."
