Another organisation succumbs to rising costs
Liquidators have been brought in to a Dundee charity after it failed to secure funding allowing it to continue its vital work.
Home-Start Dundee, a charity dedicated to supporting families in need, is to appoint Shona Campbell of Henderson Loggie as liquidator.
The charity has operated as an individual entity under the national brand umbrella for over forty year, employs five members of staff and is run by a volunteer board of trustees.
Five jobs will now be lost, with one member of staff re-employed in a similar role with Home-Start Perth & Kinross. Families receiving support have been advised to seek the resources they need elsewhere.
Shona Campbell said: “Home-Start Dundee has been a lifeline for many families in the Dundee area, and this decision reflects the harsh realities of funding challenges faced by many charities today. We are committed to managing this process with compassion and integrity starting with a thorough assessment of the charity’s assets and liabilities, communicating with creditors, and ensuring that all legal obligations are met throughout the liquidation process.”
A spokesperson for the board of trustees said: “Home-Start Dundee would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to all staff, volunteers, and supporters who have contributed to the charity’s mission over the years. The charity’s commitment to improving the lives of families has made a lasting impact in the community, and regretfully the resources required to continue could not be secured.”
