The Nevis Group was founded around four years ago to help young people gain experience in the workplace

A charity that offered vital support to care experienced youngsters has had to close its doors.

The board of Nevis Group Scotland announced last night (Monday 9 November) that they had taken the difficult decision to shut the organisation.

The charity worked to provide supportive employment for care leavers, empowering them to identify and develop the workplace skills necessary to move onto further education or sustainable employment securing and maintaining positive destinations.

A statement from its board said: “Today marks a very sad day for Nevis Group.  After exploring many avenues, our board has had to make the very hard decision to close our doors.

“We would like to thank everyone that has been part of our journey, but all good things must come to an end and this is ours.

“All is not lost, we will spend our last weeks looking at the legacy that Nevis Group Scotland will leave behind and how we can ensure that our work will continue.

“People with care experience deserve the best opportunities in life and work and we want to see that happen.

“Thank you from everyone at Nevis Group Scotland.”

The Nevis Group was started in 2016 and operated as a Scotland-wide service from its base in Orkney Street, Glasgow.
