Running until 8 December, there’s many ways to get involved
A Glasgow charity supporting children, young people and families impacted by poverty has launched its annual Winter Warmer Appeal.
As the winter months approach, PEEK is calling for donations of warm children’s clothing to support families unable to afford the essential jackets, and wellie boots necessary for children to brave the cold.
The lack of warm clothing not only limits their ability to engage in play but also affects their physical and social development.
PEEK is committed to changing this narrative, ensuring that children can stay warm and active, even in the chilliest of conditions.
Running until 8 December, there’s many ways to get involved:
- Donate a new warm coat/jacket at one of two drop-off points:
- Buchanan Galleries, ground floor, at the escalator next to John Lewis, 220 Buchanan Street, Glasgow, G1 2FF from 2nd November – 8th November, (see shopping centre opening times).
- PEEK Office, 82 Orr Street, Glasgow G40 2QF.
- Buy warm items such as jackets, wellies and cosy essentials from PEEK’s Amazon Wish List: https://amzn.eu/1PMPCQb
- Donate a Christmas gift bag in partnership with Glasgow Spirit of Christmas: www.glasgowsspiritofchristmas.org.uk/make-a-gift-pledge
- Make a monetary donation.
Michaela Collins, chief executive of PEEK, said: “Having the right clothing makes such a difference to the children we work with; it allows them to enjoy the magic of jumping in puddles and possibly play in the snow as well as attend school in the long cold winter months.
“PEEK is proud to be working in partnership again with HubWest Scotland for the seventh year running to provide new warm winter jackets and wellies to over a thousand of our city’s most vulnerable children and young people experiencing poverty.
“Over the last seven years we have been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of the general public who have supported the Winter Warmer Appeal and we are committed to doing all that we can to reach more children and young people this winter.”
