Charity launches its Manifesto for Inclusion

A comprehensive set of demands developed by disabled people for a Scotland that is accessible for all

Inclusion Scotland has launched its manifesto for next year’s Scottish Parliament elections.

It says its Manifesto for Inclusion is a comprehensive set of demands developed by disabled people for a Scotland that is accessible for all.

The manifesto outlines seven key demands:

  1. Independent Living – The right to live with choice and control.
  2. An Adequate Standard of Living – Ensuring dignity and financial security.
  3. To Be Involved – Co-production in all decisions that affect disabled people.
  4. Education and Employment – Access to learning and work opportunities.
  5. Climate Justice – Ensuring disabled people are included and protected.
  6. Accessible Communities – Barrier-free public spaces, transport, and digital access.
  7. Human Rights Protection – Safeguarding equality, dignity, and legal rights.

Heather Fisken, CEO of Inclusion Scotland, said: “The asks in this manifesto are not new. Disabled people have been demanding these changes for decades only to have commitments revoked, policies scrapped or inadequately implemented.

“The next Scottish Government needs to not only listen to disabled people but act. Change is the only way to ensure disabled people’s human rights are realised and we can be active and equal parts of our communities.”
