The SSPCA centre in Lanarkshire is asking for help in supporting vulnerable dogs

An animal charity is looking for some specific items of clothing for the dogs it cares for.

The Scottish SPCA is asking for donations of snoods to help dogs who need to wear a protective cone to stop them from scratching themselves.

And the organisation is also hoping to receive help in providing specially made anti-anxiety dog clothing that can help nervous canines at its Lanarkshire rehoming centre.

Centre manager Peter Fleming said: “Snoods might seem like an odd request for canines but we find they really help when a dog has to wear a buster collar for a long period of time. They give the dog's neck some padding which prevents the collar rubbing at their skin.

“A few of the dogs in our care also suffer from kennel stress and we find anti-anxiety shirts really help. These shirts help calm the dogs in their kennel which in turn makes them happier dogs outside of their kennel.

“We hope kindhearted locals will get behind our appeal as it would make lots of dogs very happy.”

Donations can be made between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday to Monday at the centre in Bothwell, or via an online Amazon wishlist.
