CAF have enabled donations to be made without international payment fees.
A charity has made it easier for people in Scotland to donate to Australian bushfire appeals.
The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), in partnership with Australia-based Good2Give, has set up a website enabling donations to be made without paying additional international payment fees.
Payments can be made to any of 27 charities working to alleviate the impact of the ongoing bushfires in Australia, which so far have killed at least 30 people and destroyed more than 3,000 homes.
It has also been estimated that one billion animals have died as a result of the fires, which have been devastating the Pacific nation since July 2019. Around 18 million acres have been burned across Australia's six states – an area larger than Belgium and Denmark combined.
Sir John Low, CAF chief executive, said: “We have all been deeply saddened by the raging bushfires in Australia, as well as the cost to human and animal life.
“As the crisis continues, we’re pleased to be able to make it simpler for people in the UK to donate to some of the brilliant charities tackling this crisis on the ground.”
The charities are split across three main cause areas, which are the General Bush Fire Appeal, the Firefighters Appeal and the Animal Appeal.
Charities who stand to benefit include the Salvation Army, RSPCA Australia and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.
Anyone wishing to donate can do so using their credit card, PayPal or CAF account via the appeal website.
