The Eric Liddell Centre specialises in care for older people and dementia services
A charity has reopened the doors to its community hub after more than a year of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Edinburgh based care charity and community hub, the Eric Liddell Centre celebrated its re-opening with a Summer Fair, 14 months after the building’s closure due to pandemic restrictions.
The local community came together to join this special event held last Saturday (26 June). A wide range of activities such as a plant sale, art and craft stalls, cake sale, raffle and tombola were offered to those who came together to enjoy the event.
The centre’s Café Connect is also open again every day and customers welcomed the opportunity to taste Chef Fiona’s home cooking, including her special scones.
John MacMillan, chief executive of the charity, said: “We have been looking forward to this day for over a year and my team and I are overjoyed to have the Eric Liddell Centre open again. We were delighted that our local MP, Ian Murray kindly accepted our invitation to join our celebration by formally re-opening the building.
“We look forward to welcoming both our long standing and new customers to enjoy all we have to offer. While we are well known as one of a few Edinburgh venues offering specialist dementia day care and services to support carers, we also welcome many other groups. We have an incredibly beautiful building and can provide space for everything from baby groups, children’s parties, exercise classes, office accommodation, exhibition and meeting rooms, special events and we welcome enquiries about what we can provide.
“The reopening of the building has been undertaken in strict compliance with Government guidelines to ensure we are Covid-proof. It has involved a lot of work but now that it is completed, we are a safe environment for staff and customers”.
Over the summer the Eric Liddell Centre will be open from 8am to 9pm on Mondays and 8am to 6pm Tuesdays to Fridays. They can extend their opening hours to accommodate bookings – please get in touch with frontdesk@ericliddell.org or call the centre on 0131 447 4520 to enquire,
