Soul Riders and Fore Partnership issue call for spare bikes.
A charity which refurbishes bicycles for isolated and vulnerable people is holding an open house collection in March.
Soul Riders is calling on anyone who has a bike they wish to give away to bring it to their hub in Pollokshields, Glasgow, between 10am and midday on Saturday 21 March.
The charity will give the bikes a new lease of life before being redistributed to those who need them most, such as poverty-stricken refugees and asylum seekers.
Soul Riders said the bikes can be “life-changing” for their recipients, making journeys faster and healthier while enabling easier access to healthcare, food distribution organisations, and other support networks.
The open day collection is being supported by Fore Partnership, a community-focused real estate developer, who are also collecting bikes for the charity.
Managing partner Basil Demeroutis said: "This open house event marks our second year of collecting and delivering bikes to Soul Riders, which is a truly remarkable local organisation. Cycling forms a huge part of our business’ drive for a healthier, greener and more sustainable planet, so we feel that is only right that we use our resources to partner with social enterprises like Soul Riders.”
