Veterans' charity gets cash from poppy installation

Veterans’ charity Combat Stress is to be one of the benefactors from the stunning ceramic poppy display at the Tower of London.

Six charities will share an estimated £1 million when the 888,246 ceramic poppies – all hand made by artist Paul Cummins and which fill the tower’s moat - are sold off.

The charity marks its 95th anniversary this year and is currently helping more than 759 veterans across Scotland.

Peter Poole, acting chief executive of Combat Stress, said: “We are honoured to have been part of the iconic ceramic poppy installation at the Tower of London, and grateful for the tremendous public support which has raised so much for charity.

“That the installation has raised in excess of £1 million for Combat Stress, is proof that the British public are determined to continue their support for our Veterans past, present and future.

“On their behalf, our heartfelt thanks.”
