Charities have welcomed a move by Edinburgh City Council to reject proposals to reduce its budget for additional support needs by £106,000.

The Scottish Children’s Services Coalition, a collaboration of third and independent sector children’s service providers, has welcomed a move by Edinburgh City Council to reject proposals to reduce its budget for additional support needs by £106,000. It said it found it “extremely concerning” cuts were being proposed to already overstretched services. It welcomed the council’s additional £281,000 for the service and its promise to increase net spending by 3.8% over the next four years.
