Dr Rebecca Crowther will take over at the helm, replacing Tim Hopkins.
A leading LGBTQ+ charity has announced the appointment of a new chief executive from its own staff.
Dr Rebecca Crowther will take over at the helm of the Equality Network, having previously served as the charity’s policy manager.
The board appointed Rebecca as CEO following an open recruitment process over the past several months.
Rebecca is taking over as CEO from Tim Hopkins, who is retiring from the post.
The convener of our Board, Robert MacBean, said “I want to thank Tim for everything he has done for LGBTI+ equality over nearly three decades of working for us. And I welcome Rebecca as our new CEO; she is an exceptional advocate who will be leading a great team.”
Rebecca Crowther added “I am excited to lead Equality Network into the future. Equality Network has achieved so much, and we aim to achieve so much more.
“Our priority will remain, as it always has been, to improve the lives of LGBTI+ people all over Scotland, and to do that in collaboration with our community, our partners, and our allies.”
Tim has been involved in the Equality Network’s work since being one of the founders of the organisation in 1997, and has been CEO since 2010.
Tim Hopkins said “It has been a huge privilege to work at the Equality Network, alongside wonderful colleagues and partners, and I thank everyone who has supported us. I look forward to the organisation going from strength to strength under Becky’s leadership.”
