Over £675,000 was raised for those hit by flooding in Scotland but anyone still looking for help only has until 27 May to apply to fund set up to help
A fund set up to provide cash for Scottish communities hit by flooding is to close at the end of May.
Foundation Scotland’s Flood Recovery Appeal will stop accepting applications on the 27th of next month.
The appeal was launched in January as a response to the unprecedented rainfall caused by storms Desmond, Eve and Frank.
Since then it has raised over £675,000 thanks to the support of the public and a host of funders including the Postcode Lottery and Comic Relief.
Money has been dished out to a 296 individual households, community groups and voluntary organisations particularly in worst hit areas such as Aberdeenshire and the Borders.
I would urge anyone who lives in a flood affected area in Scotland and has not yet applied to complete the simple online application
Many were given grants of up to £5,000 to carry out work to help those who had immediate shelter, food and clothing needs but there is still money available.
Giles Ruck, chief executive of Foundation Scotland, said the decision to close the fund was taken as the total remaining us steadily reducing – but urged those affected and still in need of some assistance to apply.
He added: “I would like to thank everyone who has donated and helped raise this magnificent sum, which has gone a long way to relieving the financial hardship and distress for the many individuals and community organisations severely affected by the flooding.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure the money reaches those most in need distributing 296 grants to households and community groups to-date.
“I would urge anyone who lives in a flood affected area in Scotland and has not yet applied to complete the simple online application form before the 4pm deadline on 27 May.”
Details of how to apply and more information on what the appeal will fund can be found on Foundation Scotland website.
