Six supporters aim to visit Scotland's 42 professional clubs in just 42 hours to raise funds for good causes

A group of football fans will be going the extra mile later this year to raise money for three charities as they make their way round every professional ground in Scotland.

From Friday 25 until Sunday 27 May 2018, six keen fans will try to visit all 42 SPFL football grounds in just 42 hours.

They will also try to take part in a range of challenges as they go round the grounds – with the aim of raising thousands of pounds for Nil by Mouth’s ground breaking school programme, helping the Tartan Army Children’s Charity, which supports disadvantaged children, and Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, which make dreams come true for children with a terminal illness.

Iain Wood, Tony Mulloy, John Cruden, Rod Lawman, Stewart Ingram and William Hepburn aim to raise thousands of pounds for the good causes, as well as trying to set a record for the fastest time around all 42 grounds.

Football clubs have stepped in to help with donations of prizes so far, with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Peterhead and the Rangers Charity Foundation encouraging people to donate.

The group are also asking fans of all 42 SPFL clubs to set them a challenge for each stadium, they will spend 15 minutes at each, using the #42in42 hashtag on social media.

Event organiser Iain Wood said: “42 in 42 started off as a throw away comment at the start of the season to try and get round all 42 grounds in a season.

“Then having read about two groups who had done it within 42 hours we decided to make it interesting and have a go at achieving that target. Once sitting down to establish a route we decided that we should make it worthwhile and raise some money at the same time.

“The three charities mean something to all of us and we have been overwhelmed by the phenomenal support we have received from sponsors, donations and the clubs so far.”
