This year the list picks up on trans inclusivity
Four third sector organisations have made Stonewall’s Top 100 LGBT-inclusive employers list.
Victim Support, St Mungo’s, Touchstone and Barnardo’s are singled out for supporting trans inclusivity, in addition to their work on lesbian, gay and bi inclusive policies.
Victim Support improves 10 places on last year's list, remaining the highest ranked third sector organisation, coming in at 10.
The charity is also included in Stonewall’s list of top trans-inclusive employers, organisations who have gone above and beyond to make trans staff feel accepted.
Touchstone also improved its position from 2017's list, moving up eight places to 20.
Also returning from last year are Barnardo’s, ranked at 71 and completing the list is St Mungo’s, ranked at 72.
Earlier this month, Stonewall released research that showed half of trans people have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination or abuse and that one in eight trans have been physically attacked by colleagues or customers in the past year.
Ruth Hunt, Stonewall’s chief executive, said: “Since we began the Workplace Equality Index in 2005, hundreds of organisations have used our framework to help create a work environment where their staff can be themselves and, because of that, thrive at work.
“The impact of the Index is now felt far wider than just the workplace. Organisations and businesses are the driving force of equality in society, creating spaces where customers, services users and wider LGBT communities are accepted.”
