Invaluable guide to help navigate new legislation
Free guidance to help charities and voluntary organisations navigate EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been published.
Published by the Charity Finance Group, the guide is split into five parts: governance, fundraising data, financial data, beneficiary data and employee data and is aimed at anyone with responsibility for data management within their charity, from trustees, to finance directors, to volunteers.
The GDPR comes into force on 25 May.
Nicki Deeson, CFG chair, says in the guide’s introduction: “Data protection is a core area of a charity’s operations and the implementation of the GDPR by the European Union in May 2018 means that charities need to understand and implement regulation effectively and efficiently.
“It is our hope that as a trustee, staff or volunteer you can work your way through this guide, identifying areas for improvement, building your knowledge of the GDPR legislation, and moving towards actively managing your organisation’s data protection policies.”
