Grants of up to £10,000 and mentoring support are on offer through the School for Social Entrepreneurs in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group
Budding social entrepreneurs are being invited to apply for up to £10,000 funding and mentoring support by the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
The school is looking for individuals starting up and running organisations creating social and environmental impact across Scotland.
It will provide successful applicants with the cash and a dedicated business mentor from Lloyds Banking Group to start and grow their own businesses.
They will also get to take part in a comprehensive learning programme run by the school.
First launched in 2012 by the Bank of Scotland, the programme is part of Lloyds Banking Group pledge to support 2,350 social entrepreneurs by 2020.
To help those considering applying taster sessions to showcase what the programme has to offer have been arranged in Edinburgh on 30 March and 18 April and in Glasgow on 7 April.
Launching the programme, Alastair Wilson, chief executive of the School for Social Entrepreneurs said: “As the Bank of Scotland Social Entrepreneurs Programme, in partnership with School for Social Entrepreneurs, opens to welcome another cohort of inspiring and motivated individuals from across the country, we are excited to observe how their ideas will grow and develop through the comprehensive support of a grant, learning programme and dedicated mentor from Lloyds Banking Group.
“We look forward to supporting these social entrepreneurs on their unique journeys to create positive social and environmental impact in their local communities.”
A previous recipient of the programme, Beth Hamilton-Cardus from Dunfermline, was supported to develop her community theatre social enterprise company Suit & Pace.
She says the programme helped her to grow the business and become more sustainable
She added: “It’s great to have the opportunity to connect with other like-minded social entrepreneurs on the programme and my mentor Jane McGuire has offered a really different perspective on trading as a business, enabling me to take a step back and look for new opportunities.”
