​Sending out a message that racism and fascism will not be tolerated

People will take to the streets on Saturday (18 March) to send out a message: racism and division will not be tolerated.

Thousands will gather in Glasgow to mark United Nations Anti-Racism Day.

The march will assemble at 11am in Holland Street and proceed to George Square for noon.

It has been organised by Stand Up To Racism Scotland.

A spokesman said: “Stand up to Racism Scotland calls on everyone to mobilise to ensure that the March 18, 2017 demonstration in Glasgow is a massive success.

“Following Trump's ban on Muslims and refugees, we will send out a clear message that we will not tolerate racism, discrimination, and division in our community.

“Let’s make the Stand Up To Racism demonstration for UN Anti-Racism Day the biggest yet, to show that Theresa May does not speak for us when she blames migrants and refugees for the problems caused by austerity and the financial crisis.”

The event is supported by EIS, Peoples Assemby Scotland, RMT Scotland, Scotland Against Criminalising Communities, STUC, UCU Scotland, Unison Scotland, Unite Soctland, Muslim Women's Association of Edinburgh and the Afghan Human Rights Foundation.
