UK charities are being urged to enter the Charity Governance Awards for the chance to win £5,000 and highlight good governance
Charities with excellent boards are being urged to enter the Charity Governance Awards 2017 and pick up a £5,000 prize.
The Charity Governance Awards, open to UK charities of all sizes, recognise and celebrate outstanding charity governance. There are seven categories available, including a new category, Embracing Digital, that recognises charity boards that have successfully embraced the opportunities offered by digital technology.
Charities from all sectors have just days left to complete their entries for the awards, which have a deadline of Monday 23rd January.
Other award categories recognise charities that have dramatically turned around their fortunes, those that have created inclusive and diverse boards, and those who have significantly improved their impact.
The awards are free to enter, and shortlisted entrants will receive a complimentary invitation to the official awards ceremony in London on 24th May 2017.
Case studies of the shortlisted charities will also be featured in a special ebook, to be released on the night as a free resource for charities.
Michael Howell, chair of the trusteeship committee from organisers The Clothworkers’ Company, said: “We’ve had a tremendous response to this year’s awards and have received a higher number of entrants than at this stage last year.
“This shows that the desire is there to showcase brilliant charity boards – but time is running out! I urge any charities considering entering the Charity Governance Awards to do so now. Not only are there seven £5,000 grants to be won but simply by entering charities will be helping to raise the bar for good governance across the whole sector.”
The Clothworkers’ Company is a City Livery company that supports trusteeship initiatives. It runs the awards in partnership with charity think tank and consultancy NPC (New Philanthropy Capital), volunteer matching charity Reach, and sector recruitment specialists Prospectus.
To enter, a charity must have been established before 31st December 2013 and be registered in the UK.
