Four Pillars has hosted the event since 2018
A Scottish Pride march is in jeopardy after a charity backer said it will not be involved in future.
Concerns have been raised about the future of Grampian Pride after a local LGBTQ+ charity pulled its involvement in the venture.
Four Pillars has hosted Grampian Pride since 2018, but the charity’s CEO has said they will not be able to run the event in 2026.
As reported in the Herald, Deejay Whittingham of Four Pillars announced the news in an letter to sponsors. They wrote: “The stability of essential LGBT+ services is under threat, and the financial landscape for grassroots organisations like ours has become more difficult than ever.
“Securing funding has become increasingly challenging, and we now find ourselves working harder than ever to sustain the life-changing and life-saving support that so many rely on.
“In this environment, the responsibility we carry is profound. Hosting a large-scale event like Grampian Pride requires significant financial resources, staff capacity, and emotional labour.
“At this time, directing those resources away from frontline support would compromise the essential services we provide every day, 365 days a year.”
