Charities will be able to assess the actions they can take to move towards net zero. 

A new website has been launched to help charities and voluntary organisations reduce emissions and engage communities. 

Growing Climate Confidence, launched on May 31 by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), will allow third sector organisations in Scotland learn about the climate crisis, share their experiences with others in the sector, and discover actions and funding available to address it. 

The website includes a scorecard aimed at assisting organisations in assessing their progress on the journey to net zero.

Information is also available on the website about what the climate crisis is, as well as the actions that third sector organisations can take to tackle it. 

The project was unveiled in partnership with CEIS, Circular Communities Scotland, Community Enterprise, Firstport for Social Entrepreneurs, Scottish Communities Climate Action Network, Scottish Communities Finance Ltd, Local People Leading, Social Enterprise Scotland, Social Investment Scotland, and the TSI Scotland Network. 

A launch event will be held on June 14 to go through the Growing Climate Confidence resources that SCVO have launched. 

Beth Mukushi, SCVO’s head of support services, said in a launch video: “If you’re a third sector organisation in Scotland looking to take meaningful action on the climate and nature emergencies, then the Growing Climate Confidence website has been designed for you.

“Take our simple scorecard, it’s just a couple of minutes, and it will give you tailored ideas about the things that are most appropriate for your organisation, take inspiration from others and find information about funding sources, as well as wider support. 

“Join us on the 14th of June for a launch event to hear from others about the actions that they’ve been able to take and to get inspired.
