Have a cuppa for Quarriers: Charity asks Scots to take tea break

Celebrities back social care charity’s latest fundraising campaign.

Social care service Quarriers is asking Scots to take a tea break and raise funds for the charity.

Organisers hope as many people as possible will get together with friends, neighbours and co-workers to enjoy a cuppa and a cake and make a donation.

The 10 Minute Teabreak campaign runs until the end of the year and is being supported by a host of celebrities.

Judy Murray said: "I like tea mid-afternoon. Good old English Breakfast, with milk and a sugar, but strong enough ‎so you can actually taste it. And preferably with cake. Victoria sponge with fresh cream and raspberry jam. Perfect. "

By hosting your own 10 Minute Teabreak you really will make a huge difference to the lives of the people who need it most

Impressionist Rory Bremner said everyone should enjoy a tea break whenever they can.

“I can’t get through the day without tea,” he said.

“Earl Grey in the morning, Earl Grey and Lapsang (same mug) in the afternoon. Live dangerously!”

Lorraine Kelly and Ally McCoist have also given their backing to the campaign.

Quarriers chief executive Alice Harper said “We know everyone is busy these days, but taking just 10 minutes out of your day to share time together over a cup of tea, and preferably some cake, would not only benefit you, but also help raise vital funds for Quarriers.

“Quarriers provides practical care and support for vulnerable children, adults and families who face extremely challenging circumstances.

“By hosting your own 10 Minute Teabreak and raising funds you really will make a huge difference to the lives of the people who need it most.”

Information and tips about how to set up a tea break for Quarriers are available on the charity’s website.
