SRC winter campaign will provide funds for its lifeline services

Scottish Refugee Council is running a winter appeal to help people rebuild their lives in Scotland.

Arriving in the UK is often considered the end of a long and scary journey, but for many refugees and their families it is the beginning of a different type of hardship.

Scottish Refugee Council’s head of integration Wafa Shaheen said: “Refugees arrive in Scotland with little more than their hopes and dreams for a safer future.

“But too many people face extreme poverty and an unsafe and uncertain future even here in Scotland. The families we work with need a chance to rebuild their lives and we need your help to support them.

“This year our case workers spoke to refugee families in Glasgow about their hopes and dreams for the future.

“Like local Scots, refugees in Scotland dream of a safe and warm place to call home, of watching their children grow up happy, of finding a job or finishing their studies, of love, community and friendship.

“Support our Refugee Futures Campaign and donate today. With your help, we can give more than 1,000 men, women and children the practical and emotional support they need to rebuild their lives in Scotland.”

Scottish Refugee Council works with more than 500 men, women and children every year, providing practical support, advice and guidance to help them settle in Scotland.

Its winter campaign will provide funds for this lifeline service.
