Glasgow shelter reaches out to dog owners
Dogs will be allowed to stay with their owners under a new arrangement announced by a Glasgow homeless shelter.
Glasgow City Mission will give shelter to homeless people with dogs and supply them with food bedding and even treats.
A statement the Mission said: "We recognise the importance of dogs to some of our guests and want to ensure that those who own a dog will be able to get a good night’s sleep in the shelter, knowing their dog is comfortable and warm beside them.

"We thank our friends at the Dogs Trust for their generosity in supplying all the necessary materials and accessories to allow us to launch this scheme. We have food, treats, bedding and toys ready and waiting.
"We would also like to thank all our agency partners for their support in this change in the night shelter, especially the Lodging House Mission where we host the night shelter."
Last November, Simon Community Scotland joined forces with the Scottish Government to launch Paws For Thought, which issues guidance on how the likes of landlords and local authority offices can help them.
The Dogs Trust estimated only about 10% of homeless hostels are dog-friendly.
