Social Bite and Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership are planning 50 homes for the vulnerable in Glasgow
Fifty properties for the homeless are set to be built in Glasgow.
Social Bite and Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership have joined forces to help deliver Housing First properties in the city.
The initiative aims to see those who become homeless rehoused quickly - even if they have complex needs.
The properties will be built to provide permanent accommodation for those who are vulnerable, as part of a plan to secure 200 homes across central Scotland.
Councillor Mhairi Hunter, Glasgow City Council’s convenor for health and social care integration, said: “Housing First has now been widely accepted as the way forward for supporting the most vulnerable people affected by homelessness.
“Glasgow has already been at the forefront of work on Housing First in Scotland. But working with Social Bite has given us the opportunity to significantly step up our use of Housing First in Glasgow.
“Adopting this plan will help us to work more effectively with those people who are often caught in the revolving door between emergency accommodation and rough sleeping.”
