Show of support for leading children's charity
Glasgow’s Hydro and Armadillo venues lit up green in support of NSPCC's Light for Every Childhood Christmas campaign on Sunday (1 December).
The iconic venues shone in the charity’s distinctive green to help raise awareness of the campaign, which aims to put a spotlight on child neglect and abuse.
As part of the campaign, the NSPCC is encouraging people across Scotland to Get Your Sparkle On, by wearing sparkly accessories or crafting sparkly goodies on December 11th, in order to fundraise for the charity.
Paul Cockram, head of fundraising at NSPCC Scotland, said: “We’re extremely grateful to the Hydro and Armadillo for turning green to help raise awareness of our Christmas campaign, which is bringing in vital funds to help us protect more children from abuse and neglect.
“Anyone who would like to help us raise funds, can take part in ‘sparkling up their festivities on December 11.”
One in five children in the UK have suffered abuse, and every year, specially-trained counsellors in Glasgow and across Scotland answer hundreds of calls from children.
