Paws for Sense Scotland will see dogs and their owners challenged to walk 3.5km later this month
Two internet sensations are all set to get their paws mucky to raise much needed funds for charity.
Internet dog stars Olive and Mabel are just some of the four-legged friends going walkies for Sense Scotland next month as part of the charity’s Paws for Sense Scotland fundraising event.
The Labrador Retrievers, who have kept millions entertained on YouTube over lockdown, will join Lassie, Roxy, Max, and many other canines and their owners walking 3.5 kilometres to help raise money for the charity which supports disabled people across the country.
As Sense Scotland celebrates its 35th birthday, dog owners are being asked to ‘take the lead’ and help raise £35. All they have to do is walk a minimum of 3.5km on Sunday 20 September at a time and place that suits them. They’ll also be asked to share photos of their pet with the hashtag #PawsForSenseScotland.
The duo’s ‘agent’, BBC commentator Andrew Cotter, said: “Olive and Mabel will definitely be walking their 3.5 km on Sunday 20 September - they’re very much looking forward to it.”
Olive said: “Woof” and Mabel declined to comment.
Jen Niven, head of fundraising at the charity, said: “The number of sign ups we’ve had so far really breeds confidence, and we’re delighted that Olive and Mabel are getting involved.
“Their antics brought some much-needed light relief during lockdown, a time when some of the people we support and their families struggled. The restrictions on being out and about, loss of routine, being unable to see friends and attend our services all had an impact. We had to adapt our services and provide support in different ways, but that’s what we’ve been doing for an incredible 35 years. With events and support like this we can look forward to the next 35.”
