Fred MacAulay and a host of other comedians will also perform at this year's Stand Up Against MND comedy fundraiser gig in memory of Gordon Aikmanman

Scottish stand up comedian Kevin Bridges is to host a major comedy gala in memory of Motor Neurone Disease campaigner Gordon Aikman, who died last month aged just 31.

Stand Up Against MND will be part of Glasgow Live International Comedy Festival this month.

Gordon Aikman (pictured below with his partner Joe Pike) was Scotland's Charity Champion of 2016 after raising £500,000 for research into the disease which he was diagnosed with in 2014, aged 29.

The former political campaigner used his connections within the Scottish Parliament to rais the profile of the disease and treatment for it.

Fred MacAulay and Des Clarke will also perform at the gig on 20 March at Glasgow's King's Theatre.

Kevin Bridges said: "I can’t wait for this show; it’s going to be a good laugh for a great cause. There’s a top line-up and it’s bound to be an excellent night of stand-up.

“We’ll also be raising some serious money for MND Scotland and Gordon’s Fightback, so get your tickets now and help fund a cure for this brutal disease.”

“This will be the event’s third year running and in that time it has raised over £30,000 in support of Gordon’s Fightback and MND Scotland.
