Sports Futures revealed as latest charity partner
Sport for development charity Scottish Sports Futures (SSF) has teamed up with The Kiltwalk to become an official partner for this year’s Aberdeen walk on the 7th June.
The organisation, which promotes the benefits of living an active lifestyle to young people, will join fellow charities DEBRA and NSPCC as a beneficiary of the north of Scotland event.
Ian Reid, chief executive of Scottish Sports Futures, stated: “Scottish Sports Futures are delighted to be an official partner for the Aberdeen Kiltwalk.
“After being involved in both the Glasgow and Edinburgh walks we understand what an achievement it is completing the 26 mile course and how incredible it is being part of positive activity focussed wholly on changing the lives of children in Scotland, we encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way they can.”
With a particular focus on at-risk communities, SSF initiatives are designed to encourage integration, self-efficacy, healthy lifestyles and good citizenship.

SSF used the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games as a catalyst to address significant issues relating to young people’s lack of participation in sport and physical activity.
Their initiatives are designed to support young people to positive destinations and provide them with the information and advice they need to make healthy choices and fulfil their potential.
It also runs the national Shell Twilight Programme (pictured) which provides free basketball sessions for 11-21 year olds infused with education and life-skills.
The Kiltwalk’s chairman Michael Ure said: “We are delighted to welcome SSF as a new charity partner for the Aberdeen Kiltwalk.
“Using sport as a platform to engage and empower, SSF share The Kiltwalk’s vision of improving the lives of Scotland’s children and young people.
“The Kiltwalk provides charities such as SSF a unique way of raising funds and generating income they might not otherwise be able to do.
“I am greatly looking forward to seeing the SSF team at the event and the SSF Pit Stop in action. I know from the Pit Stops they have already provided for Glasgow and Edinburgh they will be incredible.”
