First of its kind event raises thousands

Ladies who lunch have raised a whopping £10,000 for one fo the country’s biggest social care charities.

Quarriers' inaugural Ladies’ Lunch, hosted by BBC sports broadcaster Hazel Irvine, saw 150 guests dig deep in name of the charity.

The fundraiser will now become a fixture on the charity event calendar.

Trish Godman, chair of Quarriers’ board of trustees, said: “The event focused on all the inspirational women that surround our daily lives.

“At Quarriers we see it every day in young people who haven’t had the best start in life, mums trying to keep their families together against all the odds and women with a disability who want to speak out on the issues that are important to them.

"We were overwhelmed by the generosity of guests and we’d like to thank them for contributing towards such an important cause.

“Quarriers has the potential to have a significant impact on many lives, so our guests’ support was greatly appreciated.”
