Five new positions have opened up for people who want to help shape the future of the National Libarary of Scotland

The National Library of Scotland (NLS) is looking to appoint five new members to its board.

The opportunity is open to people who have experience of either library development; finance, audit and risk; human resources and organisational development; and capital project delivery and estates management.

NLS employs 300 people and has a current annual budget of £17.5 million.

It is looking for people to help shape the library’s future by determining strategies to make its collection of millions of books, manuscripts, music and maps covering virtually every subject as widely available as possible.

The library recruited seven new board members last year. The posts are not paid but travel and subsistence costs will be met.

The closing date for applications is Friday 14 November 2014. An application pack and full details can be found at the public appointments website at appointed-for-scotland.org.
