Action for Children has named its new Chief Executive and appointed national director for Scotland Paul Carberry as CEO.

Carberry has been with the organisation for almost 30 years starting in Scotland as project leader back in 1994.

He will take over from Melanie Armstrong who’s been CEO since March 2020, and announced earlier in the year she would be stepping down.

Chair of trustees Sarika Patel said: “Paul is well placed to take the organisation forward. He knows our charity well and has built up a huge wealth of experience across Children’s Services as National Director for Scotland and also as National Director for England.

She added: “The Trustees and I are very grateful to Melanie who took on the role in 2020. She has steered the charity through the pandemic, led on stabilising our finances and has overseen the introduction of our new strategy to ensure our vital work continues with children, young people and families.”
