New CEO for Perth and Kinross charity

Shaheena Din will take on the role at PKAVS.

A large Perthshire charity has unveiled its new chief executive.

Perth & Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) has appointed a well-known charity sector face to be its new CEO.

Shaheena Din recently took over the role in Perth and Kinross following more than a decade working with housing projects and charities.

PKAVS also acts as the third sector interface in Perth and Kinross.

Shaheena worked with Shelter Scotland for almost 14 years, most recently as national project lead for the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership.

She was previously also a senior adviser and senior housing and partnership development worker.

She told TFN: “I’ve worked in services, I started off delivering services on the ground as a frontline senior adviser, and I have worked through Shelter.

“I’m really passionate about housing and that’s why I worked for Shelter Scotland, and I was really keen not to leave unless it was something else I was passionate about. PKAVS touches so many people and so many different parts of society.

“When I moved to PKAVS, the interview process was very much around a new strategic plan and new values. Those values were really aligned to what I would say are my values - compassion, being in it together, speaking from the heart and making an impact. That is what I bring with me.

“It’s a really exciting time to be a part of PKAVs, because the organisation does so much. I can see it being a part of so many different things, but our focus will be on the new strategic plan. I want to go out and listen, and see what people are talking about.”
