Cornerstone has announced that Andrew Lockhart will take up the role
A leading social care charity has appointed a new chairman.
Cornerstone, one of Scotland’s largest charities, has announced that Andrew Lockhart will take up the role.
He joined the board of the organisation – a provider of services for people with disabilities and other support needs – in 2013 and has been instrumental as a keystone member of Cornerstone’s Enabling a Brighter Future IT project.
Andrew stepped up to his new role as current chair Malcolm Laing stood down.

Craig Pollock, chair of Cornerstone’s people committee, takes on the additional role as vice-chair to the board.
Andrew has a commercial background following a long and successful career in procurement.
He gained wide experience in manufacturing and operated at senior levels within the construction and retail sectors and retired in 2017. He said: “We’re very grateful to Malcolm for his contribution to Cornerstone over the years and look forward to the continuing benefit of his wide experience and wise counsel. I am excited to be taking on the role of chairman in what are challenging times for the care sector.
“Cornerstone is a progressive organisation and people are its strongest asset. We must continue to nurture and enhance the collective skills and experience which exist throughout the organisation and I look forward with my fellow directors to supporting the CEO and senior leadership team in building a sustainable future from our strong foundations.”
Edel Harris, chief executive, said: “It’ is with great pleasure I welcome Andrew as our new chair. On behalf of all board directors, and members of the leadership team we wish Andrew all the best in his new role. I also wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to outgoing chair Malcolm Laing who I’m delighted to say has agreed to continue as a director of the board.
“Malcolm has recently retired as corporate lawyer and consultant at Ledingham Chalmers LLP. I extend my best wishes to him for a long and happy retirement. ”
On handing over the reins as Chair, Malcolm added: “It has been a great privilege to serve as the chair of Cornerstone. It has not been without its challenges as Cornerstone continues to implement its ambitious and pioneering Local Cornerstone strategy.
“However, it has been very rewarding to be at the head of an organisation whose dedicated and professional staff and volunteers provide such high-quality services to those we support. I have every confidence in my successor, Andrew Lockhart, and wish him well. I am remaining on the board for the time being and look forward to working with Andrew as chair.”
