Edinburgh Airport has announced its corporate charity partner for 2018, having received 40 applications

A new charity partnership has been launched to mark the new year.

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) has been announced as Edinburgh Airport’s corporate charity for 2018.

The airport works with a different charity every year to raise vital funds and awareness of the good work the charity does, with more than £65,000 donated to Children 1st last year.

A total of 40 applications were submitted by organisations who expressed an interest in working with the airport.

The SCAA is Scotland’s only charity air ambulance and is an integral part of Scotland’s frontline emergency response network, working in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Head of engagement at Edinburgh Airport, Anna Light, said: “Working with our corporate charities has provided us with some great experiences and memories, and knowing we are helping raise awareness and funds for good causes is fantastic.

“The story behind Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance was something our staff really took to and I’m excited to see how we can work together in 2018 to support and further promote a crucial life-saving service.”

David Craig, chief executive of SCAA, said staff at the vital life-saving charity were thrilled to be selected as the airport's charity partner for 2018.

"To be chosen by the staff to receive their support and backing is a great honour and a wonderful boost for us as we enter our fifth anniversary year," he said. "It's tremendous to be associated with the country's busiest airport and join a prestigious line-up of charities to enjoy this amazing fundraising support.

"Staff at Edinburgh will help save lives through this partnership with SCAA and we look forward to working together throughout the coming year."
